Tour Plan

The heart of the village is the central square, where there are a lot of nice cafes and small authentic shops. In these shops, u can buy silverware and national lace lefkaritika.
There are a lot of home wineries. Practically in every shop, you can see multicolored wine bottles. In the private wineries and shops, you can taste wine-free. Also, in Omodos you can see vintage wine press ‘’Linos’’ and visit private authentic house ‘’Sokrates’’.

The Stone Monastery of The Holy Cross or Timios Stavros Monastery. The exact date of the foundation is unknown, but it is believed that it was founded in 327 before the visit to the island by Empress Elena. The monastery contains a particle of the bonds of Christ, a particle of the life-burning Cross, the relics of the holy Apostle Philip, a stone from Calvary.

The Column of the Apostle Paul (1st century) – the marble pillar to which, according to the legend, the Apostle Paul, who preached in Paphos, was tied during his scourging. The marble pillar is situated in the church Panagia Crysopolitissa in Kato Paphos not far from the harbor and archeological museum.

The Catacombs of St.Solomonia are carved in the limestone mountain. A cave church with chapels was created underground. The catacombs attracted attention of the crusaders who arrived on the island in the 13th century. The walls and vaults of the grottoes were painted by their artists. Now unfortunately only small fragments remain. The Catacombs of St.Solomonia is the only one underground church in the world. There is also invisible source and near the entrance is an ancient Wish Tree. There are a full colored ribbons on the tree. It has made wishes.

The Paphos Castle is also known like Paphos Medivial Fort – one of the famous sight of Paphos. The castle is situated on the ancient mall in the west part of the city’s port. Here you will have time for nice walking.

Exploring the ancient ruins in Paphos was a highlight for our family, especially when we stumbled upon the stunning mosaics that left us in awe. The guide was enthusiastic and shared fascinating stories about the UNESCO heritage sites, making history come alive for our kids. However, we felt a bit rushed during some parts, as we would have loved to linger longer at a few spots to soak in the atmosphere.

I had an incredible time visiting the stunning archaeological park in Paphos, where the intricate mosaics took my breath away. The guide was knowledgeable, but I wish there had been a bit more time to explore each site at my own pace. Overall, this excursion was a fantastic way to immerse myself in the rich heritage just a short drive from Limassol.
