Day 1

Your day starts with an early pickup from your hotel in Nairobi before heading off to Mount Kenya National Park, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, due in part to its importance as an area of great scenic beauty. You’ll arrive at the Naro Moru Gate to start your hike at 9:00 AM and head out.

Hike through rainforests up the mountain with your knowledgeable guide who will tell you about the flora and fauna surrounding you. This Park is inhabited by, among others, elephants, black-and-white colobus, monkeys, and Cape buffalos. You'll also catch sight of some beautiful birds.

At approximately noon, you’ll reach the Meteorological Station and start to head back down the mountain through the bamboo forest. At around 2:00 PM, you’ll arrive back at the Naro Moru gate and enjoy a well-deserved packed lunch. Finally, you'll take the 3-hour drive back to Nairobi.

This hike, while strenuous, will certainly be worth it; Mount Kenya is a favorite for hikers due to its snow-capped peaks, breathtaking scenery, and the challenge it presents.

We had a fantastic time exploring the stunning oases and the mesmerizing landscapes of the Sahara, especially enjoying the local cuisine in Tozeur. While the trip was generally seamless, a couple of our meals felt a bit rushed, taking away from the experience of savoring the flavors of the region.

My journey through the enchanting Sahara was nothing short of magical, especially the nights spent under the stars in Douz. I loved exploring the stunning oases and the vibrant culture in Tozeur, where the local markets offered such rich flavors and colors. However, I found the pace a bit rushed at times, making it hard to fully soak in each experience. The overnight stay in the desert was a highlight, as I felt completely immersed in the solitude and beauty around me. Overall, it was a fantastic way to discover this part of Tunisia, even with a few minor hiccups along the way.

Our experience exploring the stunning oases and the vast Sahara from Monastir in Tunisia was truly memorable, especially the local meals that introduced us to the rich flavors of the region. While the scenery in Douz and Tozeur was breathtaking, we did encounter some delays that slightly interrupted the flow of the trip.
