This once-in-a-lifetime experience is the perfect combination of adrenaline, natural beauty, and cultural richness — and it’s often described by travelers as the highlight of their entire trip to Bolivia.

Start your day early with a scenic drive from La Paz to La Cumbre, located at an impressive altitude of 4,700 meters. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and windswept mountain passes, this is the perfect place to get familiar with your bike, while enjoying spectacular Andean views.

Begin your descent along a paved mountain road, crossing through dramatic cliffs and tiny highland villages. This section is perfect to adjust to your bike and pace, as your bilingual professional guides give you tips, safety instructions, and take memorable photos at strategic stops.

The adventure continues as you reach Chuspipata, the starting point of the famous Camino de la Muerte (Death Road). This legendary route, carved into the mountainside, is surrounded by lush jungle, misty clouds, and cascading waterfalls. As you ride through the dense vegetation, cross small rivers, and pass under water streams, you’ll feel the dramatic shift from the cold Andean climate to the warm and humid air of the Yungas.

Along the way, you’ll pass by Unduavi, a small tropical village nestled in the transition zone between the Andes and the Amazon. The ride ends in Yolosita, at just 1,200 meters above sea level, where the climate is hot and the vegetation tropical — a stunning contrast from where you started.

To celebrate this incredible descent of more than 3,500 meters, we’ll take you to a comfortable hotel where you can enjoy a refreshing shower, a delicious lunch.

For those seeking even more connection with the region, there’s also an optional visit to La Senda Verde, an animal refuge that rescues wildlife from the illegal trade — including monkeys, birds, and even spectacled bears.

Many happy riders have said this was the best experience of their trip to Bolivia. Even if you don’t have a lot of experience, your guides, bike, and coaching will get you down safely and feeling amazing for having done it. There’s truly no downhill ride like this in the world
