Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar

You pass in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. It is one of the best examples of Gothic architecture. A whole story of harmonious proportions.

Paseo del Born

The alley you go up, wide and harmonious, is called Passeig del Born. Its history dates back to medieval times, when the place hosted tournaments and knightly jousts.

El Born

This huge metal hall in front of which you arrive houses the Born culture and memory center. The old market, known by the nickname of the Iron and Glass Cathedral, now houses a permanent exhibition on Barcelona in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Ciutadella Park

You are entering the urban park par excellence of Barcelona. Like New York with its Central Park or London with its Hyde Park, Barcelona has its Citadel Park.

Fontaine Cascade

The highlight of the show in this park is her. The beautiful fountain-waterfall, inspired by the Trevi fountain. You have to put yourself back in context.

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe in Barcelona is part of the Citadel Park complex built for the Universal Exhibition, to serve as a monumental gateway to the exhibition center.

Catalan Music Palace

Arriving around the corner, you will inevitably be drawn to this magnificent red brick building, with pillars and facades covered with mosaics and exuberant decoration.

The 4 Cats

Another building that stands out and attracts our attention. Under the air of a medieval castle, Els Quatre Gats, which you skilfully translated into: “The Four Cats”, was a famous cabaret opened in 1897.

Placa de la Catalunya

Here we are in the heart of Barcelona. Plaça Catalunya is literally the center of the city where all the major shopping streets converge and where we meet!

La Rambla

You reach the most famous avenue in the city, but also the most congested: the famous Ramblas. If you saw it from the sky, you would realize that La Rambla is built on the bed of a dry river.

Virreina Palace

On your right is the entrance to the Virreina Palace, translate, the Viceroy's Palace. It was built in 1778, at the request of Manuel Amat, who was the former viceroy of Peru, that is, the official representative of the crown in the colonies of New Spain in South America.

La Boqueria

This beautiful metallic entrance made of colored glass invites you to enter the wonderful world of the Boqueria Market. It is one of the largest covered markets in Europe, and a real institution in Barcelona.

Mosaïque de Miro et Casa de las Umbrellas

If you had not thought or not had the time to visit the Miro Museum, Miro will come to you! You cannot miss this huge mosaic characteristic of the work of the famous Spanish painter.

Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi

You arrive at Plaça del Pi, in front of the basilica of the same name. The current building, austere with its massive facade and its unique rose window, dates from 1319, and is in the Gothic style.

Gothic Quarter

We are on the street “dels Banys nous”, which ran along the outside of the Roman wall. It takes its name, which you can translate into “New Baths”, from the old public baths, founded in 1160 in this place where water was abundant.

Plaza Reial

The Place Royale is classy, very classy even, with its perfect proportions, its porticoes, its palm trees and its fountain. It is said that it was named Royal precisely because of its beauty, but in reality, it should have been called the Place of the Spanish Heroes, in reference to the War of Independence, fought against the Napoleonic Empire.

Palau Guell

It's impossible not to tickle when you pass by the facade of Palazzo Güell. Yes, this is a work by Gaudi. Less well known than the Mila or Batlló houses, this palace is nevertheless the only one that can be visited from top to bottom, so if you ever want to discover the interior it is possible, but of course it is not free.

Veronica Square

The small square that opens at the corner of the street is the Plaça de la Veronica. It takes its name from the woman who, according to the Gospels, would have wiped the face of Jesus during the Way of the Cross, and whose fabric had been marked forever.

Monument to the Castellers

You arrive in front of Barcelona's famous wire. What at first seems to be a work of abstract art perhaps for some, without much interest, is in reality a tribute to the Castellers.

Plaça de Sant Jaume

Let's go back to the time when Barcelona was still called Barcino. You are at the crossroads of 2 main Roman roads where the Roman Forum and the Temple of Augustus were located.

Ponte del Bisbe

This superb marble suspension bridge on Bisbe Street is often the image we have in mind of the Gothic Quarter. It blends in perfectly with the decor and yet it was only added in the 20th century.

Sant Felipe Neri Square

You arrive at the small square Sant Felip Neri, secret and quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. It takes its name from the church that presides over it, a rare Baroque building in the city, built in the 18th century as a dependency of the convent of the Confederacy of the Oratory, a society of priests.

House of the Ardiaca

A few meters from the cathedral, unknown to the general public, is the Casa de l'Ardiaca, literally the archdeacon's house. An ecclesiastical class that has now disappeared.

Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Santa Eulalia

There it is! The Patron Saint of Barcelona. Sainte-Eulalie in person. Dedicated both to the Patron Saint of the Diocese of Barcelona and to the Holy Cross.

Les Gargoyilles

I wanted to draw your attention to some of the gargoyles in the cathedral. Enchanting, it is full of sculptures full of mysteries and you could spend hours examining it and looking for messages.

King's Square

A hidden medieval gem, King's Square takes you back to the Middle Ages at the time of the Counts of Barcelona. Facing the royal palace, it served as the castle's barnyard and hosted markets and tournaments.
