Candelabrum
After boarding, we will go to Ballestas Islands, located 30 minutes away from the coast of Paracas. On the way you can see the still inexplicable lines drawn in the sand forming a candelabrum. This mysterious geoglyph measures 590 ft., and is circa 2,500 years old.

Ballestas Islands
We will continue the tour until reach the islands. It is a natural reserve of beautiful geological formations, impressive fauna where you will find sea lions, penguins and birds such as the pelican, among other species found in the archipelago.
Due to the number of birds that lives in the area, and with the migratory ones, these islands have the best natural fertilizer in the world: the guano. Peru used the guano to improve the economy, between 1845 and 1866.
At the end of the tour, we will return to the dock, and you will be transferred back to your hotel in Paracas.

Itinerary

Chinchero

Early in the morning, we will pick you up from the hotel to start this fascinating tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be at the town of Chinchero, located 17 miles from the city of Cusco. Here, we will visit a local workshop to appreciate the ancestral techniques to create amazing textiles.

Maras

The next stop is at the salt mines of Maras, located on an open hill in the valley of Urubamba. This place has an impressive process created by Incas, where a subterranean stream evaporates salty water, and it emerges at a spring. The flow is then directed into an intricate system of tiny channels constructed so that the water runs gradually down onto the several hundred ancient terraced ponds. The water, which is exposed to the sun, leaves salt on the land.

Moray

After visiting Maras, we are going head to the ruins of Moray, which are made up of three coliseums, thought to have been used by the Incas as a sort of open air crop laboratory. The coliseums consist of several enormous terraced circular depressions, the largest of which is about 30 meters (98 feet) deep. Admire these terraces which are arranged in concentric circles and are reminiscent of an ancient Greek theater.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas has extensive fertile lands, perfect for cultivation, as well as impressive archaeological sites. This place will show us the lifestyle of the Inca Empire and its advanced construction techniques.

After the tour you will be taken to El Regocijo Square.

Embarking on this marine adventure was a delightful experience, as I was able to witness an array of wildlife in their natural habitat. The boat ride was smooth, although there were a few moments when I felt rushed past some of the more captivating spots. Discovering ancient geoglyphs etched on the coastline added a fascinating layer to the trip, making it not just about the islands but also about the rich history intertwined with the vibrant marine life.

We were mesmerized by the sight of playful sea lions lounging on the rocky outcrops, while the ancient geoglyphs etched into the hillsides whispered stories of the past. However, the two-hour duration felt a bit short for our curiosity about the thriving marine life surrounding the islands.
