Shamakhi Juma Mosque, one of the oldest Muslim temples in Azerbaijan, as well as in the South Caucasus and the Middle East and first Mosque in Azerbaijan was built in 743. After the earthquake in Shamakhi in 1902, a part of the minaret of Juma Mosque was destroyed. While entering inside the Mosque, you need to remove your shoes, but walking barefoot is not a problem, because the floor is covered with thick carpets. In addition, women must cover their heads in order to enter the mosque, so they provide free head cover at the entrance, which is required to be returned at the exit.
