The Brandenburg Gate is an iconic part of the city’s cultural heritage today. Since the fall of the Wall, Berlin’s only surviving historical city gate has come to symbolize the two sides in the Cold War – and, since then, the new, united Germany. The sandstone Brandenburg Gate is also an outstanding example of a German neoclassical building built earlier in history.
