Itinerary

Meet at Seville airport

Day 1

SEVILLE - Arrival

  • After arrival at the train station or airport, transfer to Aracena for accommodation. After check-in, Guided visit to the Grutas de las Maravillas. Rest of the afternoon free, free dinner and accommodation.

Day 2

CORTEGANA - ALMONASTER - ALAJAR

  • After breakfast, we move towards Cotegana. Considered the jewel of the Sierra de Huelva Natural Park, we will discover a very unknown heritage, for example, the place where the famous "Roman scales" were first made throughout Hispania. Even today there is a company dedicated to the manufacture of this weighing element.

    We will visit the town's castle, where Cortegana is located near the border with Portugal, in the so-called "Banda Gallega", so its mission was to protect the land of Seville from possible invasions ⚔ from the neighboring kingdom.

    We continue the trip towards Almonaster la Real, where we will visit the historic center and the best preserved rural mosque in Spain. An architectural jewel of beauty, which has come down to us almost intact to our days.

    Upon arrival in Alajar, we will discover an immense panoramic landscape from the Peña de Arias Montano, where we will also be able to enjoy a local gastronomy based on Iberian pork. After lunch, we return to Aracena making a brief stop in Linares de la Sierra, where we will discover its peculiar bullring.

    Arrival in Aracena, free afternoon and accommodation.

Day 3

RIOTINTO MINES - ARACENA

  • In the morning, after breakfast, we will cross pastures of holm oaks and cork oaks to reach the Rio Tinto mining basin. These copper mines are the largest open pit in Europe. With a history of extraction of more than 2,500 years ago, the maritime landscape that it presents us is of a singularity that we can only enjoy here. An incredible experience where we meet some of the most important heritage-historical enclaves.

    We will enjoy a steam train tour of the facilities, as well as some of the areas where the impressive views will give us a huge impression of the mines.

    After the visit (approximately 4 hours) we return to Aracena for a complete guided tour of the town, we will visit the old Alcazar, the church and the historic center with the ham museum.

    Free time to dinner and accommodation

Day 4

ARACENA -SEVILLA

  • At the scheduled time, check-out and transfer to the train station / airport in Seville.
