Visit the historic village of Duong Lam on the outskirts of Hanoi and discover the traditional rural houses that date back up to 400 years. Most of the buildings are made of laterite and mud, 2 of the area’s most abundant materials. The village has also been described as the last stronghold of wet rice farming culture in northern Vietnam.
Upon arrival, you will wander around the village to visit the local market, old temples, and pagodas. After that, you will visit some historic family with ancient houses to talk with the owners. The ancient houses are run by families who have worked the land for generations and they will happily talk about their daily routines.
You will have lunch menu at a local home to savor the rustic flavors of rural life.
After lunch, guests continue exploring the village by foot, venturing down some of the tiny alleys to see more of the centuries-old houses.
Cycle around the village to experience everyday life up-close-and-personal. Pedal over to the 15th-century Mia Pagoda, and admire the 287 statues of varying sizes, including a famous statue of Buddha, and the statues of the 8 Vajra Deities.
Stop for guests taking photo of Gate Of Mong Phu Village.
This is the only ancient gate left to this day in Duong Lam. The village gate was built in the post-Le period, which has a different architecture than the traditional village gate, like a house with two sloping roofs, with support pillars and roofs in the style of “upper house Xiamen” (above is the house, below is the gate). Mong Phu Gate, together with banyan trees, water wharf, and lotus pond, creates a typical setting of the ancient Northern village.
About 500m from Phung Hung temple is Ngo Quyen mausoleum. The complex of Ngo Quyen temple and tomb is built on Cam hill, in front of a large rice field and Lobster basin flowing into Tich river. The temple consists of a place of worship, a cult, a harem, and a stele house. At the bottom, about 100m from the temple is the tomb of King Ngo built in the shape of 4 roofs on a high pedestal with walls.
Phung Hung Temple is established in many places. But the temple in Duong Lam village is the largest temple with unique architecture including Ta – Huu Mac, Dai Bai and Hau Cung.
At the end of the day, we will say good bye Duong Lam Ancient Village and get on private transfer back to Hanoi. After 1,5 hours drive, we will arrive at Hanoi and droip off guests at same hotel/places . End tour.
