Itinerary

Day 1

  • Meet guide in your Beijing hotel lobby at 8:00 am and visit the Temple of Heaven first. It used to be the place for the Ming and Qing Emperors to pray for a good harvest and pay their worship to the God of Heaven respectively each year. Continue to see the Tiananmen Square, the world's largest city-center square. You will see some of the iconic buildings like the Front Gate, Chairman Mao's Mausoleum, Great Hall of the People and more.

    Proceed north to see the Forbidden City, the place where the Ming and Qing Emperors resided for more than 500 years. It is the largest and best-preserved Imperial Palace in the world which was converted into a museum and opened to the public in 1925, after the Last Emperor Puyi was kicked out in 1924.

    After lunch break, drive to the Summer Palace, the best-preserved and largest Imperial Garden existing in China. It used to be place for the Qing Emperors to spend their summer time. They usually took a boat from the Beijing Zoo along the Imperial Waterway to the south gate of the Summer Palace.

Day 2

  • Pick up at 8:00 am in your hotel lobby to see the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Here you'll walk along the less crowded portion of the wall. You could choose to take the cable car for both ways, or take the chairlift up and toboggan down.

    After 1.5-3 hours hike on the Wall, drive back the city to see the Ming City Wall Ruin Park. It is the last remaining and restored section of the 15th-century wall that once encircled Beijing. You will walk on part of the city wall and get inside the Southeast Corner Watchtower to see its showpieces and learn the history and function of the various city gates.
