Itinerary

Mount Kenya Trekking: Sirimon Naro Mru route

You will be picked from the airport or hotel by our company representative and take a three and a half hour drive to the small town of Naro Moru located on the western side of the mountain. Your destination is Batians View Experiential Education Center situated on the Naro Moru trail, about 7km from the park gate. This will be your base for climbing the mountain. Here you will meet your guide and porters and have your gear checked to make sure you have everything you need to stay comfortable and safe during the climb. Overnight and meals at Batians View.

Day 2: Sirimon gate to Judmaeir camp

After breakfast, You will depart Batians View heading north past Nanyuki town to Sirimon Park gate. After registering at the gate you will set out for Judmaier camp following the road as it winds uphill through the gallery forest, Hargenia zone and giant heath. The camp is located at the upper end of the heath zone at 3,300m. Distance covered is 9km and takes approximately 3hrs of hiking. Overnight at Judmaier camp.

Day 3: Judmaier camp to Shipton's

After an early breakfast you will set off for Ship[ton's camp following the well-trodden Sirimon trail. The trail takes you up the hill past the meteorological station to the Liki north junction where you turn right towards Ontulili river. After crossing the river you follow the trail up the ridge before descending to the Liki North river. You will now be hiking in the Afro alpine zone popularly known as the moorland with tussock grass as the dominant vegetation. From Liki North river the trail winds up gradually to the top of the ridge overlooking Mackinders Valley. This is the widest valley on the mountain with a breathtaking view of the main peaks. Day 4: Lenana summit then descend to Met station

On this day we will do a dawn summit to point lenana. Point Lenana at an altitude of 16,355 feet is the destination of most visitors to the mountain. It is the third highest peak and can be done by anyone in good physical condition without any technical training or equipment. A dawn ascent will have you leave shipton's camp very early to try and catch the sunrise at the summit. You will then descend to Mackinder's camp for Breakfast and later head down to met station for the night.

Day 5: Met station to Batians View

From Met station, it is a 2hr descend to the Naro Moru park gate where you will be picked up and driven to Batians View Experiential education center. Here you can have a hot shower, freshen up, and have a bite before departing for Nairobi and JKIA. It is also possible to be picked up at Met station in case you need to be in Nairobi early for your flight.
