Itinerary
A small maze of alleys
fitting no more than one person at a time, alongside stairs that crawl up, almost vertically, to small half landings. There are doors lined up, bridges connecting houses, arches, domes - all built with volcanic stone.
Goulas
A rectangular tower in the northern side of the village, built during the time the Venetians ruled the island. Tradition wants it that the tower was constructed by monks and that it was used as a safe place for the Monastery’s treasures. From here, you will marvel at the panoramic view of the village.
Step 2
Pyrgos
Pyrgos is a medieval ornament and dominates a hill overlooking Santorini from side to side, from Santorini to Oia. It is a casteli still preserving the traits of the Venetian Empire, sowed with churches and ruins, breathing a strong sense of power and prosperity. Besides the casteli, a visit to the monastery of Prophet Elias, up on the hilltop, is a must. There, visitors can marvel at the panoramic views of the island.
Step 3
Fira
Around 260 metres from sea level, Fira seems to wear their whites and scramble up the cliff to win the admiration of each visitor.
The unique position of the Fira offers an astounding view of the new and old Kameni. Your tour will start from the Theotokopoulos central square, with its many cafe bars, while, a bit further, a street lined with luxurious jeweller shops stretches before you, promising experiences made from diamonds!
