Itinerary
Mount Kenya Day Hike – Itinerary
05:30 AM – Depart Nairobi
Pick-up from your hotel/residence. Drive north through the beautiful Kenyan highlands, passing tea and coffee plantations en route to Mount Kenya.
09:00 AM – Arrive at Mount Kenya National Park (Sirimon Gate)
Check in at the park gate (2,650m) and meet your mountain guide. Get a short briefing before beginning the hike.
09:30 AM – Start the Hike
Begin trekking through dense montane forest filled with bird calls, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and occasional buffalo.
11:30 AM – Ascend Through Bamboo and Hagenia Zones
The scenery shifts as you move higher, passing towering bamboo groves and Hagenia trees. The trail is scenic, with chances to spot more wildlife and enjoy the crisp mountain air.
12:30 PM – Lunch at the Meteorological Station (3,050m)
Pause at the Met Station, a rest point with sweeping views of the mountain slopes and valleys. Enjoy a picnic lunch and capture great photos.
01:30 PM – Begin Descent
Retrace your steps downhill, enjoying a different perspective of the lush forest and birdlife.
04:30 PM – Exit via Sirimon Gate
Return to the starting point where your driver will be waiting.
05:00 PM – Depart for Nairobi
Relax on the drive back through Kenya’s central highlands.
07:30 PM – Arrive in Nairobi
Drop-off at your hotel/residence, marking the end of your Mount Kenya adventure.
