Full Day Itinerary – Lake Naivasha & Hell’s Gate Day Trip
06:00 AM – Hotel Pick Up & Departure from Nairobi
Meet your driver-guide at your hotel or residence in Nairobi. After a briefing, depart for Naivasha via the Nairobi–Nakuru highway. Enjoy scenic views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment with a brief photo stop at a viewpoint.
08:30 AM – Arrival at Hell’s Gate National Park
Enter Hell’s Gate National Park, famous for its dramatic cliffs, gorges, geothermal activity, and free-roaming wildlife.
08:45 AM – 11:30 AM – Game Drive / Cycling / Hiking in Hell’s Gate
- Option 1: Game Drive – explore the park by vehicle, spotting giraffes, zebras, buffalo, gazelles, and more.
- Option 2: Cycling Safari – rent a bicycle and ride through the park (a unique experience since Hell’s Gate is one of the few parks in Kenya where cycling is allowed).
- Option 3: Hiking the Gorge – explore the Ol Njorowa Gorge with a local guide, discovering hot springs, cliffs, and caves (note: gorge access depends on weather/park regulations).
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM – Exit Hell’s Gate & Drive to Lake Naivasha
Head to nearby Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s most beautiful freshwater lakes, famous for birdlife and hippos.
12:30 PM – 01:30 PM – Lunch Break
Enjoy lunch at one of the lakeside lodges.
01:45 PM – 03:00 PM – Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha
Take a boat safari on Lake Naivasha. Spot hippos wallowing in the water, African fish eagles diving for fish, and a variety of water birds. If lucky, you may also see giraffes and antelopes along the lakeshore.
03:00 PM – 04:00 PM – Optional Crescent Island Walking Safari
Take a short boat transfer to Crescent Island, a private sanctuary. Here, enjoy a guided walking safari among giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles—no predators, making it safe to walk close to the animals.
04:00 PM – 06:30 PM – Return Journey to Nairobi
Depart Naivasha and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or residence.
