There were only 120 giraffes left in a ranch in Western Kenya when the Giraffe Center was founded. The actual non-profit organization is called the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya. The giraffe centre is managed by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) which is a conservation education NGO which supports teaching of conservation education in schools through documentaries, organizing inter-schools contests and production of education pamphlets, brochures and posters.
