Itinerary
Day 1 Amman - Ajloun (D) 70 KM

1. Ajloun Nature Reserve
Your tour begins with pick up from your Amman hotel at 9 a.m., on board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for Ajloun Forest Reserve. This reserve is located in the Ajloun highlands at the northern Jordan, around the village of Umm al-Aanabi. It is an area of rolling hills covered by dense woodlands of evergreen oak, interspersed with pistachio, carob, and wild strawberry trees. The trees have been important to local people for their wood, scenic beauty, and quite often used for medicine and food. These woodlands are like the original forest animals, including herds of wild boar. There is a captive-breeding program for the locally extinct roe deer and an enclosure has been built on site, so they can be released into the forest in the near future.
2. Ajlun
There are 2 hiking trails for you to enjoy. One is the easy trail named the Roe Deer Trail, a 1.5-mile (2 km) hike taking 1-2 hours. Leading from the campsite to the summit of a nearby hill overlooking the reserve. The area surrounding the trail is rich in wildflowers in the springtime. It is an excellent spot for a picnic (on your own expense). Not far from the campsite an old stone wine press is found that you can visit. The return trip goes past the breeding enclosures of the roe deer and back to the Visitors Center. The other option is the moderate trail named the Rock Rose Trail, a 5-mile (8 km) trail taking 3-4 hours. This trail passes across heavily wooded valley and ridges, inside and outside the nature reserve. This highly scenic trail passes through villages and olive orchards, which offers beautiful panoramic views to the West Bank and Syria. There are steep scrambles en-route that demand a reasonable level of fitness.
3. Ajloun Nature Reserve
Return to the reserve. Your day concludes with dinner and overnight at Ajloun Reserve.
Day 2 Ajloun - Amman (B) 70 KM

1. Ajloun Nature Reserve
After breakfast, free time at leisure for you to explore the woods on your own. Make arrangements with the driver for a suitable time to return to Amman.
