This special route combination is by a wide margin the least-used route on Kilimanjaro, getting you far away from other hikers. The trailhead is at high elevation, and thus we start slow and easy on this route. The trail begins on the Shira Plateau, and the hike across the plateau is said to be one of the most stunningly beautiful hikes in Africa.

Day 1 Arrive

t Kilimanjaro Airport and drive to Springlands Hotel

You will be warmly and generously welcomed, provided with Mountain and Safari briefings and get a room at the hotel. All meals are available.

Day 2 Moshi to Londorossi gate to Lemosho glades to Mkubwa camp

Moshi to Londorossi gate to Lemosho glades to Mkubwa camp

Drive from Moshi to the Londorossi Park Gate is about 11 km/7 mi [45 min] To Lemosho Glades and a possible campsite. From the Glades, you will walk for three hours along beautiful forest trails to the Mti Mkubwa "Big Tree" Campsite.

Day 3 Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1

enters the giant heather moorland zone, then crosses the Shira Ridge and dropd gently to Shira Camp 1 located by a stream on the Shira plateu.

Day 4 Shira 1 camp to Moir Camp

Shira 1 camp to Moir Camp

East towards Kibo's glaciered peak. Shira is one of the highest plateaus on Earth, averaging 12,500 feet. We immediately veer away from the tourist trails towards the North East edge of the plateau to reach Moir Camp. Moir Camp is an isolated and seldom used Camp affording views over the Shira Plateau.
