It’s incredible how much care and attention go into caring for the elephants there, especially considering the size of the herd. Witnessing the elephants' feeding process and daily routine must be fascinating, not to mention the spectacle of them bathing in the nearby river—it’s a unique experience.

It’s also amazing that Pinnawala has become a symbol of the Sri Lankan Elephant and plays such a vital role in its conservation.

It sounds like a wonderful day ahead in Kandy! Here's a breakdown of your itinerary:

Day 1 The spice gardens in Sri Lanka

The spice gardens in Sri Lanka sound like a sensory paradise! The blend of aromas from spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg must create a rich and welcoming atmosphere. I love how they not only showcase the traditional spice trade but also offer visitors the chance to learn about the process from cultivation to harvest—it’s such an immersive experience.

The fact that these gardens are so closely tied to the island’s rich history of trade and culture adds so much depth to the visit. And the chance to try meals prepared with fresh, aromatic spices sounds delicious.
