David Gareja (Georgian: დავითგარეჯის სამონასტრო კომპლექსი) is a rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex located in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia , on the half-desert slopes of Mount Gareja on the edge of Iori Plateau, some 60–70 km southeast of Georgia's capital Tbilisi. The complex includes hundreds of cells, churches, chapels, refectories and living quarters hollowed out of the rock face.
Part of the complex of David Gareja (Bertubani Monastery) is located in the borderline's s zone between Georgia and Azerbaijan and has become subject to a border dispute between Georgia and Azerbaijan.[1] The area is also home to protected animal species and evidence of some of the oldest human habitations in the region.

This 8-day journey through Georgia was an eye-opening experience that beautifully showcased the contrasting vibes of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi. The blend of rich history and modern culture in Tbilisi was a highlight—strolling through its vibrant streets felt almost magical, especially at night. While the itinerary was packed with amazing sights and activities, we occasionally felt rushed during transitions between the cities. Overnight stays were comfortable, but some hotels could use a bit of updating. Overall, we left with a deeper appreciation for Georgian hospitality and culture, eager to explore more on our next visit.

Our family found the 8-day adventure to be a rich tapestry of Georgian culture, with Tbilisi serving as a vibrant starting point. We especially appreciated our stay in a charming guesthouse that embraced traditional decor, offering a cozy refuge after long days of exploring. The excursions to Kutaisi and Batumi were captivating, filled with stunning landscapes and local delicacies that we cherished. However, there were times when the pace felt a bit rushed, making it challenging to fully absorb each experience. Overall, it was a delightful journey that opened our eyes to Georgia’s warm hospitality and diverse heritage.

From the moment we arrived in Tbilisi, the vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality captured our hearts. We loved exploring the charming streets and indulging in traditional Georgian dishes, especially the khinkali and khachapuri that we couldn’t get enough of. Although the transportation between cities could be a bit cramped at times, the stunning landscapes of Kutaisi and Batumi made every journey worthwhile.
