Cruise in the Heart of the Amazon Rainforest

Day 1: Arrival at Manaus

Welcome to Manaus: the entrance door to the biggest ecological reservation on the planet: the Amazon rainforest!
Manaus is a city surrounded by water, with the main roadway being the giant Rio Negro, the river that flows into the Solimoes River and creates the Amazon River. From 1890 to 1920 a regional economic boom based on natural rubber production brought prosperity to the city and most of Manaus’ majestic buildings and homes, including the cathedral and ornate opera house, dating back to that time.
It is hot year-round in this city-amidst-the-waters, with temperatures usually from 86 – 96 degrees F.
Arrive at the airport and meet with the driver for the transfer to the accommodation.

Day 2: Embark and Sail up the Rio Negro

Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the driver to reach the cruise meeting point at 2 pm.
Boarding and start of navigation up the Rio Negro.
Enjoy fresh fruit juice, while you hear some useful information about the roadmap and facilities.
After a snack, meet in the living room for lectures about the Amazon, through which you will have a good first understanding of the preservation and ecology of the Amazon.
After dinner, we will explore little creeks in our canoes and listen to the sounds of nocturnal animals with the possibility of observing birds, frogs, snakes, and caimans.

Day 3: Wildlife Spotting and Anavilhanas National Park

After breakfast we’ll go out for a walk in the jungle, to discover many amazing fragrances in leaves, fruits, wood, and animals.
Around noon we will return to the boat, and before lunch, you can enjoy a refreshing swim.
In the afternoon, we’ll sail through the Anavilhanas National Park, one of the largest freshwater archipelagos of the world, a labyrinth of waterways.
Later, we will go out in canoes and learn more about this wonderful natural park.
Return on board, dinner, and night at leisure.

Day 4: Amazon Fruits and Pink Dolphin Spotting

Early in the morning, we will go out to practice some piranhas’ fishing, besides other fish too.
After breakfast, we visit a community where we’ll find many typical fruits of the Amazon, such as cupuaçu and taperebá; and palm trees like açaí, tucumã, and Pupunha.
We’ll also learn about the preparation of manioc flour and children’s health and education situation.
After lunch, we’ll stop at one of the beautiful white-sand beaches, and swim in the dark waters, while watching the pink dolphins: known as botos rosa that live only in freshwater.
In the late afternoon, we will explore the area by canoe and observe the surrounding wildlife. On the way towards the Amazon River, dinner will be served.

Day 5: Meeting of the Waters and Water Lilies

Early in the morning we will explore the Parque Ecológico Lago Janauary.
This area is generally an excellent place to observe wildlife and see the Vitoria Regia: the giant water lilies.
During breakfast, we will sail to the “Encontro das Águas”, the confluence of the two largest freshwater rivers in the world, the Amazon River and the Rio Negro.
Now it’s time to head back to the pier while enjoying the beautiful view of Manaus.
Arrive at 11:30 am. End of services on board.
