Sicily Tour – Agrigento Temples to Piazza Armerina
Enjoy a fantastic weekend discovering the myths of Sicily, exploring some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Sicily. These 3 days Sicily tour is the perfect combination of history and culture, from the Greek colonies to the Sicilian art and handcrafting. From Agrigento Temples to Piazza Armerina, visiting Sicily is also an opportunity to get close to the Mediterranean flavors, tasting the local recipes of Sicilian cookery tradition and delicious wines. Our tour guide will lead you to discover also Caltagirone, the homeland of the famous and colorful Sicilian ceramics, with its rich historical center, ranked between late baroque cities of the Valley of Noto and also famous for its handcrafted Nativity Cribs that can be visited all year long.
Day 1: Selinunte e Agrigento – centro storico
Pick-up and hotel check-in. You will be welcomed by your tour guide at the airport of Catania or Palermo, or in the city center of Messina. The 3 days Sicily tour starts with the visit of Selinunte, the acropoli and the stunning temples. Our tour of Sicily continues with a guided walking tour in the city center of Agrigento, where you will visit the Cathedral of Saint Gerlando, the Church Santa Maria dei Greci, the Church of Saint Lawrence and the Basilica of Immacolata. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 2: Templi di Agrigento e Villa Romana Sicilia
Breakfast in the hotel. During the morning we will visit the Archaeological Park of Agrigento Temples, where you will experience the majesty of the Greek temples of the colony of Akragas, a step back to the VI-V century B.C. The tour will continue with the famous Villa Romana Sicily in Piazza Armerina, a beautiful example in Sicily of Roman Domus, an elegant residence enriched by well-preserved mosaics of the late imperial age. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 3: Caltagirone
Breakfast in hotel, check-out. The last day of our tour will lead us to the discovery of Caltagirone with its Public Gardens, the Staircase Santa Maria del Monte, the Church Santa Maria Della Scala, the Cathedral of Saint Julian, baroque noble palaces along the way and we will also experience the production of Sicilian ceramics visiting a workshop. At the end of the tour, transfer to the airport (or city center of Messina).

The reservations will have to be forwarded by 7 days before the event. The payment of the allowances has to be done at the time of the reservation, or by the period that the event takes place. The group will be entrusted to one or more than one guide or/and delegated representatives of Discover Messina Travel which will assist the activities during the days together with the architect Nino Principato, who will take care of the tours. It’s compulsory for the participants to carefully observe the rules given by the guides during the whole path, to follow the pre-established itinerary without getting far from the group unless given the permission and to respect the established time for the eventual free time. The guided tours are provided for walks with pedestrian paths, some of which are on the rise. During all of the activities, non-ambulatory guests have to be assisted by an escort that can help them. Discover Messina Travel, in exceptional situations or imputable reasons to the organization, will have the option to modify the program of the activities. The participation of minors is consented only if accompanied by someone that has parental rights or someone that stands for them. The participants note the detailed program, the travel time, the sites that will be visited and exempt Discover Messina Travel from any civic and penal responsibility for eventual delays, incidents and injuries that might happen during the tours and during transfers that are not to be imputable to the organization. Discover Messina Travel also reserves the right to cancel the event if the minimum number of 30 participants hasn’t been reached by 7 days before the event. As not provided by these general terms, Discover Messina Travel refers to the law in force.
