💎 Why we love it ?

Colombia’s eastern plains, Los Llanos (The Plains) are still to be discovered. It is just emerging as a tourism destination, so the infrastructure is very basic and authentic. The reserve (filmed by BCC & Animal Planet) has capybaras, 325 bird species, caiman, deer, anacondas up to 7 meters long, jaguars, anteaters, and activities include safaris, piranha fishing, walking, and horse riding, traditional life of vaqueros – Colombian cowboys & cattle farming.

When to Visit?

When to visit Los Llanos entirely depends on each client’s preferences, as there is no one season-best to visit the region. April and December are particularly beautiful times to visit, as these months fall at the turn of the seasons. This means the weather conditions are slightly less extreme, and visitors can enjoy a range of wildlife on both dry land and some flooded plains.
A humid, tropical climate is typical in Los Llanos, with temperatures ranging from a low of 21˚C (70˚F) in the evenings, to a high of 34˚C (93˚F) during the dry months of February and March.

DECEMBER – JANUARY • Expect dry weather with green landscapes, a concentration of animals around watering holes, migratory birds, anaconda sightings, and births of giant anteaters. Average precipitation: December 40mm, January 11mm.

FEBRUARY – MARCH • Expect dry weather with arid landscapes, the highest concentration of animals around watering holes, migratory birds, anaconda sightings, births of giant anteaters, and easy access to remote areas. Average precipitation: February 30mm, March 57mm.

APRIL – NOVEMBER • Expect rainy weather with lush green landscapes, decreased accessibility to remote areas, births of pumas and howler monkeys, giant otter sightings, and the presence of Garceros, a concentration of hundreds of herons nesting together. Average precipitation: April 189mm, May 237mm, June 321mm, July 258mm, August 245mm, September 205mm, October 208mm, November 104mm.

Note:

Keep in mind that in this destination there are NO FIXED ITINERARIES, the activities arise from the interest of travelers, the weather conditions of the day and, above all, what nature wants to show us. The activities that you can choose during your stay are: safaris in trucks or tractor, boat ride to see wildlife in the river, fishing, horseback riding, walk through the forest and the savannah, search for the anaconda, walk and lunch in the cattle herd. One of the nights you will also have the possibility to appreciate a folkloric sample of llanera and joropo music.
