🏁 Tour Itinerary: Peaceful Luang Prabang

Day 1 – Arrival in Luang Prabang

Arrival in Luang Prabang, you will be met by our driver and transferred to your hotel for check-in (regular check-in time). The afternoon is free at leisure!

Day 2 – Luang Prabang – Sightseeing (B)

After breakfast, we visit the Morning Market, followed by the National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign.
Continue our city tour with the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents the classical architecture of the Luang Prabang temple, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai.
We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore the Street Night Bazaar, where you can find lovely collections and handmade textiles by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 3 – Luang Prabang – Kuangsi Waterfall (B)

After breakfast, you will drive through the Luang Prabang countryside to Kuang Si Waterfalls.  Along the way, by the Mekong River, you will see the gorgeous landscapes of many rice fields, hills, and villages.  You will visit an ethnic minority in a village where their local culture has remained unchanged for centuries.  Upon reaching Kuang Si Waterfalls, relax and enjoy the magnificent natural surroundings. Enjoy the waterfall as long as you want before returning to the town. Please don’t forget to bring swimming suits!
Late afternoon, you will join local people to play the Petanque game while enjoying beer Laos, a traditional game of Lao people. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4 – Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Cave (B)

For early risers, there is a very special dawn visit to watch the monks collecting the alms.  As the sun begins to rise, long lines of orange-robed monks leave their pagodas and walk barefoot down the streets collecting offerings from Luang Prabang residents.  It is a beautiful, serene ceremony that highlights the spiritualism of the Laos people. You will be back at your hotel for breakfast and be free to enjoy walking around the town.
In the afternoon, you board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives you a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Before approaching the caves, we get off the boat to visit the village of Ban Xang Hai which has made the clay jars that are used to ferment Lao wine for centuries. Nowadays the tradition continues however the villagers now specialize in producing 2 Lao specialties, ‘Lau Lao’ whiskey and ‘Lau Hai’ wine. Return to the town late afternoon. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 5 – Departure From Luang Prabang  (B)

After having your breakfast at your hotel, our guide will send you to the airport to depart for the next destination.
