Karmravank Monastery
Karmaravank Armenia Monastery, built by King Gagik I, is an abandoned church dating back to the 10th century. Located 12 km northwest of Akdamar Island on Van’s border is one of the most mysterious places surrounding the lake. This enduring complex houses two churches and an abandoned defensive wall. You’ll find the remains of an old cemetery in the southeastern part, but most graves were broken by gold and treasure hunters.
