Town Museum
Located inside the gates, the town museum houses a collection of Ottoman and Roman artifacts. You can also find an ancient church dating back to 1510, which converted into a mosque in the 17th century. Make sure not to miss Balsic Tower and its art displays in the museum. You’ll find exhibitions of Montego’s old photos and traditional dress behind the church.
Balsic Tower
The Balsic Dynasty, ruling this zone from Lake Skadar, constructed the Balsic Tower. It now serves as an art gallery or a meeting place for the society of local poets.
Slave Square
The history of Ulcinj is linked to salve trading. Wealthy landholders from Dalmatia and Italy were attacked and brought here to be ransomed until their families paid some money to have returned them returned. Later, slaves from Africa were sold in the square. The Slave Square is an outdoor area outside the museum structure. Today, Ulcinj is the home of many black families living here.
Venetian Palace
It’s believed that the Venetian Palace was once the home of the Venetian ruler to Ulcinj. It now serves as a 4-star hotel named Palata Venezia, offering a great view overlooking the town and Mala Plaza.
Mala Plaza – City Beach
Don’t miss out on going to the rocky and sandy beaches in Ulcinj. Mala Plaza (Small Beach) is a summer sandy, shallow beach near the old town famous for families. You’ll find restaurants, cafes, and a mosque around the coast to grab some snacks and go shopping.
Pine Wood and Ladies’ Beach
You can find Pine Wood, and Ladies’ Beach east of Mala Plaza, where you can take a walk in Pine Wood is a local treatment for diseases like asthma, and a dip in the sulfur springs of Ladies’ Beach is known as a local cure for infertility. Women can freely swim at this rocky beach and enjoy the sun with the adoring glances of males.
Velika Plaza – Long Beach
Velika Plaza, meaning Long Beach, is a sandy beach covered with beach bars, open areas, lounges, and umbrellas. Being windy, the Velika Plaza is a popular kite surfing spot.

An ideal spot for bird watching, Lake Sas is a peaceful place where you’ll find Sas’s old town’s ruins.
